Annual Report 2010 From Hon. Secretary Karen Towner

I have now taken over as Secretary for Bodiam this coming season. 2010 was not quite such a successful year, winning ten games, losing eight and drawing one. We also failed to reach the Observer Cup Final for the first time in several years, winning three matches and losing three in our section. Despite this there were some very enjoyable matches but in some respects the season was overshadowed by John's illness. Also several of our younger players were unavailable.

Highlights of the season were Adam Chapman, Tom Constable and Richard Reardon scoring centuries and Richard Reardon taking five wickets in one game.

The Hastings and District Association was disbanded and has been replaced by Sussex County Cricket East Area. Fixtures have started to be arranged. There is a Classic Car show on the Bodiam field on June 19th but that is the date we usually play Westfield away.

A sympathy card was sent on behalf of the club to the Corke family on the death of Harold Corke.

John thoroughly enjoyed the testimonial match with Wanderers in June and hoped that it would continue just as he would want the club to flourish in the future.

Also thank you to everyone for the lovely flowers in the shape of a cricket bat and for everyones   attendance and support at the funeral. John would have been very proud of the team.

The pitch played reasonably well this year but we had cut the number of home games to six in order to preserve the wicket and hope to do the same this coming season. Indoor cricket is well under way and in our first three matches we are unbeaten.

Thank you for your support.

Yours sincerely,

Karen Towner (Hon Sec.)
